Former Kenyan Member of Parliament brings seven years of adult family home provider experience

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Board of Directors of the Washington Association of Adult Family Home Providers (WAAFHA) announces the appointment of Monicah Cornish as Executive Director.

Cornish brings experience in public leadership and firsthand knowledge of adult family home care. A former member of Kenya’s Parliament and an adult family home provider for seven years, she understands the policy decisions that shape care and the daily responsibilities providers carry.

As Executive Director, Cornish will lead WAAFHA’s operations and work with the Board of Directors to advance its priorities, strengthen membership, and expand outreach to providers across Washington.

“I am honored to serve as WAAFHA’s Executive Director. As a provider, I know the responsibilities we carry every day and the challenges our homes face. My priority is to listen to providers, strengthen our collective voice, and advocate for the support we need to deliver quality care. Together, we can build an organization that puts providers and the residents we serve at the center of its work” said Monicah Cornish.

WAAFHA brings adult family home providers together through advocacy, education, and professional standards. The association works to strengthen providers’ voices in decisions affecting their businesses and the residents who depend on them.
