WAFHA is owned, led, and supported by Adult Family Home providers. Our committees give members a direct opportunity to help shape WAFHA’s programs, policies, advocacy, education, and services.
You do not need previous committee experience to participate. If you are passionate about improving the Adult Family Home industry, we invite you to get involved.

WAFHA Committees
1. Government Affairs and Legislative Committee
Works with lawmakers, state agencies, and community partners to advance policies that support AFH providers. Priorities include fair Medicaid reimbursement, timely MCO payments, practical regulations, caregiver workforce issues, and provider representation.

2. Membership and Provider Engagement Committee
Welcomes new members, improves membership benefits, listens to provider concerns, and helps WAFHA maintain strong relationships with providers throughout Washington State.

3. Education and Training Committee
Develops educational programs, workshops, webinars, leadership training, and continuing education opportunities through the WAFHA Academy.

4. Regulatory and Compliance Committee
Reviews regulatory developments and helps providers understand licensing, inspection, documentation, resident-care, and compliance requirements.

5. Legal Affairs and Provider Protection Committee
Identifies common legal concerns affecting providers and helps develop educational resources, referrals, and provider-support programs. This committee also assists WAFHA in evaluating proposed laws and regulations.

6. Medicaid Reimbursement and MCO Committee
Focuses on Medicaid rates, resident participation, payment delays, incorrect authorizations, MCO accountability, tier determinations, billing disputes, and other reimbursement challenges.

7. Workforce and Caregiver Committee
Addresses caregiver recruitment, retention, training, wages, overtime, workplace safety, and the growing workforce needs of Adult Family Homes.

8. Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations Committee
Helps communicate WAFHA’s mission through social media, newsletters, press releases, public campaigns, provider stories, and community outreach.

9. Technology and Innovation Committee
Supports the development of WAFHA CARE HUB and identifies technology that can help providers simplify documentation, improve operations, protect information, and deliver better resident care.

10. Events and Conference Committee
Plans WAFHA conferences, regional meetings, listening tours, community events, networking opportunities, and the weekly Thursday provider meeting.

11. Business Development and Vendor Relations Committee
Builds relationships with businesses, sponsors, professionals, and service providers that can offer valuable products, discounts, and opportunities to WAFHA members.

12. Finance, Audit, and Budget Committee
Supports responsible financial planning, budgeting, financial oversight, internal controls, and accountability for WAFHA’s resources.

13. Ethics and Governance Committee
Promotes ethical leadership, board accountability, transparent decision-making, conflict-of-interest standards, and compliance with WAFHA’s bylaws and policies.

14. Quality of Care and Resident Services Committee
Promotes high-quality, person-centered care while ensuring that quality expectations are practical, properly funded, and developed with meaningful provider participation.

15. Diversity, Equity, and Cultural Inclusion Committee
Ensures that WAFHA represents providers from every region, culture, language, and community across Washington. The committee promotes cultural understanding, equal opportunity, and inclusive participation.

16. Regional Outreach Committee
Builds WAFHA’s presence throughout Washington by connecting with providers, organizing regional meetings, identifying local concerns, and developing future regional leadership.
